Congrats! On your new call.
For those who are familiar with the Pot Call you won't need to read this.
For new users I have a few tips.
1. Keep your call dry. It is finished with several coats of Tung Oil,
but it's best not to get it wet.
2. Conditioning the slate or aluminum with a scuff pad is important.
Keep hands off striking surface. Oils from hands ruin sound.
Use a clean dry paper towel or cloth to wipe surface after using scuff pad.
3. The striker will also need to be kept clean.
TO PLAY THE CALL
1. Hold Pot in your hand using your thumb and two fingers, hold lightly, tilt pot slightly toward you.
2. Hold striker as you would a pencil. Now tip it forward so that the tip is at a 15-20 degree angle.
3. Place the striker tip on the call and press down moderately hard while pulling toward you,
with a short stroke. This should make a Cluck
4. Tracing an 's' pattern will produce a purr.
5. Yelping is achieved by tracing small counterclockwise circles
6. Hold the Striker very lightly to get maximum vibration.
7. Tone, pitch and rasp can be changed by the angle of the Striker
and how tight you hold it. Also the position of your fingers will change
sound. Try moving your grip farther up on the Striker.
You may experience some squeaky sounds at first but with a little
practice you will make sweet Turkey sounds.
Practice-Practice-Practice
Good Hunting! Bill
